Neabsco Creek Tour:
If you will recall, there has been plenty of press regarding the changes coming to Neabsco Creek. The video above hosts footage from the narrated paddle Tour of Neabsco Creek, to include the Julie Metz Wetlands, the Featherstone Wildlife Refuge, and information on the boardwalk and trail additions to come, which will connect neighborhoods to the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail!
To learn more about the timeline for the project, take a moment to read more in this InsideNova article. Canoeing for Families:
In addition to taking part in an informative tour of the Creek, this opportunity led me to embrace a new favorite passtime-canoeing! Let me begin by confirming, I am no swimmer, but I am a nature lover who loves being near the water, and has been keeping my eye on the development of the Neabsco Creek area of Woodbridge. That stated, when I was invited to participate in the paddle Tour of Neabsco Creek, I was delighted to confirm my participation, so long as I was partnered with someone skilled at canoeing-which I was!
I enjoyed the tour so much, I'd like to share information for parents reading this blog, to consider participating in kayaking/canoeing/stand up paddleboard tours offered at Leesylvania State Park, as a family outing during the summer months! They also rent their equipment out at reasonable rates of $12/hr, $30/4hours, $50/day.
If you do participate in a tour at Leesylvania State Park, please take your camera (or phone) with you and add some of your pictures in the comments below. We'd love to see a view of the creek from your perspective.
